ReplyDeleteI decided to read this book , because I am very passionate about the horror stories , the mystery and investigation of complex crimes , this book perfectly combines all of these features , and it is very interesting to read , as each page brings a new situation and a new mystery to Sherlock holmes the great researcher . I think reading this interesting story , improve my ability to interpret texts in English , I will learn new vocabulary , I can relate more easily to read situations and I will learn new textual structures . to understand the story , I must implement strategies that will help me develop reading, and contextualize what I'm reading , find appropriate places to read where I can concentrate and think clearly , read times of the day in which I have energy and disposition to do so, I set the goal of my reading and be willing to comply. this reading will be very helpful in my learning process , because I will make an effort and work hard , I will learn new vocabulary and I will be more responsible when it comes to reading .

I decided to read this book, because when I look at it, their subject is about business: a person wants to succed. He wants all: power, money, a big house, cars, etc. But the problem started, when he is offered a job at the super-rich law firm. so, considering that THE FIRM is a book about fifth level and British, I hope learn more vocabulary and other ways about English writing. It is a challenge to myself.
I am using startegies like: read in a place where I can be along and above all comfortable and illuminated, when I don´t understand some word, I search in the dictionary the word unknow and I imagine that happen in the book; just these for the time being.
Finally, in my develop of learning the reading allow me see: that I need to know more and more vocabulary because, always I found new words that these are so important to understand the reading, also the readings allow me discover in what moments I can use it, because we can find words like: see, watch, look and look at; these words has the same mean but these we must in different contexts.

ReplyDeleteHello classmates, the book i chose was A trip to London. It was written by Lester Vaughan.
The way it presents the stories though images, games and activities, in order to get to know London; it will call my attention, because it is about culture, journeys and adventures. In addition, I will have to make decisions and go to different sections in the book. According to my decision, I may win or lose points. If will get a high, I had have a good trip.
Also, I hope to learn a lot vocabulary, expressions and grammar.
In relation to reading strategies, this type of text allows me to practice strategies like:
Look illustrations, write the principal ideas, doing a glossary, memorize sentences and finally I’m going to write a summery.
In this way, I like this book, and the strategies mentioned before, I can improve my speaking, writing and reading.

ReplyDeleteMy book called “Daisy Miller” by Henry James written in 1878.
I decided read this book, because is a novel and I love read about romantic books and I feel me very exciting when I read love’s stories, and is interesting how the book ending in a sad final.
I want to get out of it: improve my reading comprehension, learning new vocabulary, and I want can understand the texts structures. I’m using reading strategies as siting up in a comfortable space, along in silent and with a good illumination; other strategy than I use is Break long assignments into segments; I Read 10 pages then I do something else; after, I read the next 10 pages and so on. When I don’t know the words meaning I write the word and later search the meaning.
For conclude I think than the reading help me in my process learning, because when I read for improve my vocabulary, also when I reading texts learn about new things and nothing is surplus, and the reading is a good strategy for learn more about the grammar and we can use the reading for improve our writing.

Farewell, My Lovely was the book that i chose because i looked the first page and i readed two paragraphs and i was like surprised because even starting the story you could imagine and feel the situation, mistery and passion wich the story is told. This is an old story and is so interesting that hollywood producers adapted the story to the movies. I think that reading this book i could get more interest in reading because this story involves the reader, also i would get more vocabulary,new expressions, fluency in reading and the most important thing is that if i am focus in reading i could get a good comprehension. The strategies that i use when i'm reading this book are reading in a comfortable and silent place, i read an unknown word and i look for the meaning in the dictionary, finally i write a summary of the story, it could help me if a i forget some detail. Finally i think that reading could develop my learning process in a way of fluency of language, because reading is a complete skill because i can improve my language knowledge.

Sincerely, I started to find out a book and after I read a lot of titles, I found it interesting because of its introduction and name. I like everything about animals, specially dogs and horses. So, here it is the book I would like to read and get deep in it. I noticed that there is a lot of unknown vocabulary. That is another reason why I chose it. It also has grammar structures that are useful for me in order to improve my writing.
I will use some strategies like: First, read the introduction and conclusion, so in that way, I can know more about the topics that the book brings; sitting up at a desk or table with a good light and without an annoying noise; have a paper and pen within reach and as it is a special story, I am sure that I am going to understand everything unless there is vocabulary I don’t know. As I noticed, It is not a difficult reading so, I am going to enjoy it.
Finally, I really believe that reading is an important point to develop my learning because I get more knowledge. Each time I read something in English, I can noticed that my speaking gets richer because of those thousand of words I did not know in the past and now, help me to understand people and more books.

I chose this book because in the cover of the book was the actor Tom Hanks who in the movie is the main character, also is one of my favorite actors; I have never seen the movie, but the book is interesting and so fun. The book is very short and has some images that help me in reading. The character’s adventures are impressive, I learn a lot from them. The strategies that I use when I'm reading are having a good place to read, which finds silence and concentrate, I search in the dictionary the word unknown and take note of the most important things in story.
Ending I think that reading is a great help in learning because reading I win vocabulary , it has coherence and I will not have any problem when I speak or write.

I will enrich my vocabulary ; to learn new expressions and grammar,but main to enjoy of this surprising history. My reading strategies are;read sitting up with a good light,keep paper and pen within reach , pay attention when I need to understand every word ,and finally take notes and talk with the text about the purpose of reading.
On conclusion I think that reading ,first motivate the student by to know the end of history. Second , I learn new words ,and finally you learn to be a critical reflexive person .thank you.

ReplyDeleteI chose the book "the big sleep" , written by American Raymond Chandler , published in 1939 . I decided to read this story, that caught my attention was the story of detectives, romance, money , police and family. With this novel I want to learn more vocabulary , more English phrases , understand faster and mainly read in English, as though reading is written in English, we often see the letters in English but read in Spanish .
Reading strategies that I will use are: read in a place with good light and in silence, writing the main characters , important events , not watch Tv or listen to music.
In reading we are learning new things immediately. Read is culture and passion. In this case, each of us chose the story we wanted to read, then I will learn new words, I will learn different ways to use the same word, but in different contexts.

ReplyDeleteI am very excited to read my story because it is a very interesting book. The title of my book is Byron Dangerous Hero, the author is Edward Arnold and it was published in 1990. It narrates the life of Lord Byron, he was an important English poet and writer of Romanticism. The story shows key aspects of your life such as family, childhood , youth , maturity and adventure. I decided to read this book because it is a text based on real life and the story has the important events that occurred in the life of Lord Byron; moreover , is a tale of adventure , love and dreams that motivate us to not give up by obstacles. Although I prefer to read romantic stories, I liked this book too because I can learn more about the life of a historical person .
On the other hand, when you read a book your mind is attentive to the things that you want to learn. You should always ask : What is the purpose of my reading? In my case, I like to read because I can learn new words, new expressions and grammatical rules, enjoying a good story. Is important to know that each person uses different strategies to comprehend a reading. Personally, I think it is important to read at an appropriate place, taking notes of the relevant things, not watch TV or listen to music while you're reading and have a dictionary to find some meaning.
To sum up I believe that reading helps us to improve our learning process because it increases our vocabulary and increases our creativity to create other texts. In addition, this exercise is very dynamic because everyone can choose a story that appeals to the reading does not become boring and meaningless.
Finally , I would say that reading is the way of knowledge that show us a world full of words and a world full of stories.

ReplyDeleteThe book I chosed was: The eagle has landed. It was written by Jack Higgins. I chosed it because, it is a dramatic and World War Two novel. That's a topic that I like a lot. Since I was a child I have always being interested in the worst conflict in the human history. It was a little disappointing when I reached the end. But anyway it was a richful lecture. From the book I got out things such as: the creativity of some war tactis, the desesperation oh the Third Reich un 1944 and how a little detail could be so important to destroy a perfectly planned operation. For rhe reading I haz a dictionary by my side to look for any Word that I didn't understand. After a reading looking for uknown vocabulary, I readed one more time to focused in the story. Finally I hace to say, that at least for me, reading is one of the mostrar important strategies for adquire any kind ok knowledge.

ReplyDeleteIn this opportunity, I will tell you about my book; it was written by Charles Dickens, who’s one of the most popular writers of all time. This edition first published 1999, it was called “DAVID COPPERFIELD”, Charles began writing it in 1849.
On the other hand, I decide to read this book because 8 months ago I read a short story of Charles Dickens and I liked it. I read this book because; it talks about story of David’s adventures as a child and as a man. It also shows people’s suffering in the school and at work.
I want to get out of it: acquire new vocabulary, improve my reading, know a little more about the literature of this author, for this I use reading strategies for instance, read sitting up, with a good light, at a desk or table, keep back ground noise to a minimum and jot down my thoughts.
Finally I consider that reading helps me to develop my learning process, because of that I can have more knowledge about different things; culture, science, technology, etc. I acquire more knowledge and it helps me to think from the fact and I learn about sentence’s’ structure.

Precious Bane is a novel by Mary Webb, first published in 1924. It won the Prix Femina Vie Heureuse Prize,the story is set in rural Shropshire England shortly after the Napoleonic Wars. It is narrated by the central character, Prue Sarn, whose life is blighted by having a harelip decided read this book because I like the old stories and I was search in the library and I can find many stories’ books but I was reading and I chose it. It book is a challenge for me because it is in upper level, and particularly difficult structures, such as complex nominal groups , are used sparingly to sump up things new for me . At the same time, I have the opportunity to know new words, including some simple idiomatic and figurative English usages. I want to get out of this reading is better my reading comprehension and learn more vocabulary. I going to take notes for try to use reading strategies. I think that read help me for better my competence and abilities in the foreign language I can learn and speak about this stories, and to share my knowledge with my classmates.

I decided read the book "the price of friendship" by Anna Higgins, because i think that the friendship is a topic of importance to everyone. we can talk about the funny of have friends or the other hand the different problems that sometimes happen; so I want to improve my reading comprehension, learning new vocabulary, and I want can understand the texts structures. some of the strategies that I use when I read are search a good place to read, I need stay in silence and concentrate and I search the word unknown because this help to increase my vocabulary; is important for me take note the topics more important about the book to have clear ideas.

I decided to read “THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, because it is one of Sherlock Holmes’ stories, and I think this kind of book is very interesting to read for the mystery and because you never know, what can happen after. I enjoy reading mystery books; it is one of my hobbies because with these books I don’t get bored, its reading always is a pleasure. The reading is a good and amazing way to develop the English learning process because it can help us with: speed reading, to be better in comprehension and to find expressions, word, grammar, etc. that we can use in speaking and writing skills. I want to get out of this book new vocabulary, some useful expressions and some structures, which improve my writing and reading skills. I am going to try the strategy to mark up the text to clarify some words, some ideas or something that I am not sure; in addition, I am going to scan the text too, to find unknown words to search in the dictionary to grow my glossary and to understand the complete idea.

ReplyDeleteI have to say that I really love to read histories about mystery and suspense with a mix of drama and romance, for this reason, I am Reading a book called: Brat Farrar, written by Josephine Tey and published by Oxford University Press in 1992 like a simplified edition. The story centers in the Asby family, which suffered the tragedy of losing 8 years ago to three important members of this large family, the story develops in the fictional village of Clare near the south coast of England. the most importan event for me, is that Asby family has dark secrets in its past, because of this, I want read this book of way fast and then read it again carefully, scrutinizing every detail, in addition, I think that is very important to apply in this point the reading strategies learned in class such as taking notes, create a list of new vocabulary, to sum up, I would like to achieve with this reading more knowledge and fluency to the time of reading a new book, because I recognize that this is the best way for improving my learning in this new language.
I choose Wuthering heights and it was written by Emily Bronte, I decided read this book, because it is a book so beautiful and talk about a love story and fights between two families, I want get out of the book many things like read more fast, understand more things when I read another book, learn more vocabulary and practice de reading strategies. ReplyDeleteI decide read “The last of the Mohican” by James Fenimore Cooper, this book is about a war between England and France for the colonization of new lands, I’d like the atmosphere in which this story develop, I also like this kind of story because it's interesting for me understand and reflect on the injustices committed by this people. These types of reading help me to learn new vocabulary, read better with my next books maybe faster and easier. The first thing that I did was look at the title and some paragraphs of the book. My strategies are: to make a list of new vocabulary, to make main ideas, to read in a quiet environment, and always take the dictionary because it is a very useful tool in our learning process.

The kind of this book is of my preference. The author, dick francis, always wrote stories relevant with horses, however this story talking about the kidnapping and his adventures that exists in Italy, England and Washington. So, that is a experience very moving.
The reading strategies that I going to use are: first, I search a place in silence, where I can concentrate, after I search in the dictionary unknowns words, also I search the pronunciation of these words.

This book is a novel and it’s my favorite genre. Is a wonderful comedy, is very fun and also we can know a new experience. The story of this book talking about six men driven to face their fears of inadequacy and loss in hard times. Broke, out of work and on the verge of losing their wives and children, they come up with a desperate, brilliant plan: Make like Chippendale dancers and strip for cash!
